Meet Riddhita Chatterjee

Riddhita is a piano teacher based in Carshalton, in the London Borough of Sutton. She teaches online across the UK and internationally, in person in Carshalton and Sutton, and periodically in Richmond for students in that area. She teaches piano and keyboard individually, from first lessons through to graded examinations with ABRSM and Trinity College London.

Musical background

She began at the age of five with Hindustani classical vocals in Kolkata, India, before finding her way to the piano. Her musical education led to the Associate of Trinity College London (ATCL) Diploma in Piano Performance.

Qualifications and teaching experience

Riddhita has taught for over fifteen years. She holds the ATCL Diploma in Piano Performance from Trinity College London and an Enhanced DBS check, completed after relocating to the UK in 2024. She has taught at two established music schools here while building her own private practice.

Alongside her music qualifications she holds a Master's degree in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi. She worked in the corporate sector before moving into music and teaching full time.

How I teach

Her teaching combines the structure and discipline of classical piano training with the expressive side of her Hindustani roots. Lessons are built around the individual student rather than a fixed curriculum, and her experience across different cultures, instruments and teaching formats shapes how she adapts to each one.

Musicminim and online teaching

Riddhita is the founder of Musicminim, a music school in India offering instruction in piano, keyboards, guitar, drums, and Hindustani, Carnatic and Western vocals. Under her leadership it has grown into a learning community staffed by skilled educators, serving students of all ages.

In 2020 she moved her teaching online, which widened her reach considerably. She now teaches students across India, the Netherlands, Singapore, the UAE, the UK and the USA.
